American rock band Shinedown continues to dominate the mainstream rock scene, with the band’s latest single “Dance, Kid, Dance,” earning the group its 20th number-one hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.

 

“Dance, Kid, Dance,” released just last month, has already had an enormous impact on rock radio and popular music charts. The track’s entry into the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart saw Shinedown capture an astonishing 32nd Billboard Mainstream Rock Top 10 entry, tying arena-rock mainstays Foo Fighters for the most Top 10 releases in the chart’s history.

 

 

 

 

Shinedown shows no signs of slowing down in the wake of such success, however, as the band’s recently released “Three Six Five” has made waves of its own, cracking the Top 40 Active Rock charts and continuing to gain momentum. Meanwhile, “Dance, Kid, Dance” remains steadfast in its ascent, having become the number-one most requested song for the UK’s Planet Rock and Kerrang Radio platforms.

 

Shinedown frontman Brent Smith recently detailed the band’s approach to the new tracks, noting a desire on behalf of the group’s members to open themselves up creatively and avoid limitations to specific ideas or artistic parameters.

 

 

 

 

“The last two albums were both conceptual so it was important for us to really ask ourselves creatively where do we want to go. The answer to that was we want to go everywhere so there was no specific direction,” the singer said of the creative process behind Shinedown’s most recent material.

 

”We just started writing, and let the new songs guide us. I also think we stopped saying “why” and started saying “why not?.”

 

The approach was one that also informed preparations for the band’s Dance, Kid, Dance tour, for which acts such as iconic British rock band, Bush, country music singer and songwriter, Morgan Wade, and Columbus, Ohio-based rock outfit, Beartooth have been recruited to join in on the festivities.

“When we were thinking about touring, we had certain artists in mind,” Smith explains. “Instead of being of the mindset that they wouldn’t want to come out to tour with us, we just asked them — and they said yes. Honestly, it’s quite humbling, we are extremely excited for this new chapter, and tour. SO LET’S GO!!!!”

 

The tour will find the influential group teaming with Musicians on Call, an organization which has been dedicated for over a quarter-century to utilizing the healing power of music in service of patients, families, and providers in healthcare environments throughout the nation. One dollar of every ticket sold for the Dance, Kid, Dance tour will be donated as part of Shinedown’s charitable efforts.

 

Kicking off at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, the Dance, Kid, Dance tour will see the band rocking the house at venues throughout the nation into the spring and summer months. The trek will come to its conclusion at the “Home of  the Blues,” Memphis, Tennessee in late August.

 

With the band headlining some of the most iconic venues around the country – some for the very first time – the tour is shaping up to be a can’t-miss national event the likes of which Shinedown fans have yet to witness up to this point.
