American rock band Spin Doctors have issued up the second single from the band’s current album cycle, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven,” which emerged on Friday.
The second tune to be released from the group’s comeback album Face Full of Cake, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven” follows January’s “Still a Gorilla.” The new tune keeps things light with a celebratory, danceable feel that will almost certainly appeal to fans of the band’s well-known early 90s material.
Lyrically, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven” is a fun, fantastical romp which finds the band spinning yarns of a paradisiacal afterlife featuring perpetually cold beer, vintage guitars, working microphones, and of course, amps that go up to eleven.
“‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven’ is a hymn to an afterlife for the blue collar musician and diehard music fan alike,” says Spin Doctors frontman Chris Barron of the new single. “It was the first song recorded in the Face Full Of Cake session, and it set the tone for the anthemic sound of this new Spin Doctors era.”
Indeed, it’s the high-octane afterlife that all rock aficionados dream of, with Buddy Holly himself there to greet you at the door, self-changing guitar strings, and shelves of vinyl records as far as the eye can see.
The tune’s parent album, Face Full of Cake will be the first album of all-new material from the Spin Doctors in over a decade, and will be the first offering from the band to be released on Capitol Records.
Following the April 11, 2025, release of Face Full of Cake, the Spin Doctors will embark upon a highly anticipated summer tour with Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler. The trek will get underway with an Independence Day performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven is available to stream now, and Face Full of Cake is available for preorder. A full list of upcoming Spin Doctors tour dates can be seen below.
