American singer and songwriter, Eli “Paperboy” Reed has released “Stop Talking In Your Sleep (Radio Session)”, the lead single from the upcoming re-release of Reed’s debut album, Sings Walkin’ and Talkin’ and Other Smash Hits!
”Stop Talking In Your Sleep” was made available on Wednesday, and will be spearheading the rollout of Sings Walkin’ and Walkin’ and Other Smash Hits! celebratory 20th anniversary re-release.
Originally recorded in an Allston, Massachusetts basement studio, Reed’s debut LP was cut entirely live to analog tape in mono. The record was pressed as part of a highly limited 300-compact disc run in 2005.
This deluxe re-release will feature all the original tracks from the album, along with four additional tracks which were recorded as part of the album session in the year 2004. A second disc included as part of the deluxe package will include a session that was recorded in 2005 for WHRB radio at Harvard University.
”This deluxe set presented Reed’s humble beginnings in Boston by way of Mississippi and Chicago, playing his own rough and ready interpretations of down-home blues, R&B and gospel,” read a release for the project. “With this 20th anniversary release and the celebration of two decades of legendary live performances, Reed cements himself as an elder statesman of the genre.”
The 20th anniversary milestone will also be commemorated by way of a tour from Reed featuring a full band which will perform numbers from Sings Walkin’ and Talkin’ and Other Smash Hits!, as well as other numbers from the extensive catalog of music established by the musician throughout his storied career.
The anniversary re-release of Sings Walkin’ and Talkin’ and Other Smash Hits! will be available on June 6, 2025, and will see release in multiple formats including compact disc, vinyl, and digital streaming through Yep Roc Records. “Stop Talking In Your Sleep (Radio Session)” is currently available for streaming and Sings Walkin’ and Talkin’ and Other Smash Hits! is available for pre-order.
