Rising young artist and model, Benicio Bryant has released a single, “Goodie Bag” ahead of a brand new EP set for release later this month.
The 20-year-old performer – who initially gained recognition, in part, from time on America’s Got Talent – rolled out the new pop-infused track on Friday, characterizing the tune as “vocal trap” and noting a desire to utilize synthetic and digital elements in the song’s production.
“I just loved the idea of making this song a vocal trap song. Like ‘ga-a-ame.’ I liked it sounding synthetic, and very fake. Like I liked it sounding like digital,” Bryant said of the production and recording process for “Goodie Bag. “Some of the sounds are scary and abrupt, I think that’s good, it’s fun! Pop isn’t supposed to be perfect, it’s supposed to be risky and a party.”
During the writing of the single, things seemed to come together for Bryant and his team when he opted to let loose a bit and allow the tune to write itself, in a sense.
“When we wrote this song, we had the production but were struggling with the lyrics and we decided we needed just a funny line or concept to lift with the production. I had the melody, and all of a sudden I burst out, ‘come reach in my goodie bag’,” the singer explains of the creative process for “Goodie Bag.” “We just thought that was so funny and loved it. It means, let’s get it on, stop pretending – we’ve liked each other for a long time, let’s just do something about it, let’s act on it. That’s exactly what it means.”
The song will see inclusion on Bryant’s forthcoming and appropriately titled project, POPSTAR EP, which will see release on April 25, 2025.
“Goodie Bag” is now streaming everywhere.
