Multi-faceted performer, Milena Casado is quickly establishing herself as a leading face in the realm of modern jazz. The trumpeter, composer, and producer released a brand-new single “SELF LOVE” this week.

The track will serve as the closing number from Casado’s forthcoming LP, Reflection of Another Self, due out now month through the Candid Records imprint.

“SELF LOVE” puts a number of the artist’s many talents on display, with synthesizers, electronics, and of course, trumpet being among the elements implemented to explore a space of understanding and acceptance of self, a state that Casado concedes is not always easy to attain.

“Loving yourself is the hardest thing to do,” she says. “I wanted to capture that journey, what it feels like to reach a place of acceptance and understanding. For me, self-love is still a work in progress, but maybe… this is how it sounds.”

The release of “SELF LOVE” follows that of preceding single “O.C.T. (Ode to the Crazy Times”, which acts as more an exploration of the greater scope of the society than as an introspective reflection of one’s one unique journey.

Packed with punchy grooves, virtuosic instrumental explorations, and personal, in-depth songwriting, Casado’s full-length debut and the parent album to “SELF LOVE,” Reflection of Another Self will hit shelves at record stores on May 16.

“SELF LOVE” is now available to stream on all major platforms.
