Canyon Lights Release Mystical New Single, ‘Seventh Son’

Blues rock three-piece Canyon Lights have released a new track this month, “Seventh Son,” the opening number from the group’s upcoming album, Breathe Easy.

“Seventh Son” comprises an array of stylistic DNA, conjuring elements of rock, blues, jazz, romanticism, melodicism, and a good old fashioned slide guitar solo for good measure, the latter said to have been inspired by the 12-bar blues classic “Hound Dog,” popularized by the great Elvis Presley.

The tune, which explores the notion of a romantic interlude with mystical overtones, takes its title from an ancient notion of magical abilities or supernatural forces intertwining with the being of those born into a sons-only lineage.

Canyon Lights vocalist and guitarist Tim Faherty imbues “Seventh Son” with tasteful riffage harnessing a sonic gravity to anchor the track in a concrete melodic structure. Meanwhile, drummer Tim Carman brings a jazz-rock vibe behind the kit, giving the single a nostalgic yet modern feel.

“Seventh Son” is streaming now along with “Breathe Easy.” Both tracks come from the upcoming debut album from Canyon Lights, Breathe Easy.

Canyon Lights continues their ongoing tour opening for legendary blues rockers, George Thorogood and the Destroyers. The band recently squeezed in a performance video shot between dates for the title track for their forthcoming LP, Breathe Easy.
