Scottish Rock Band OVERHAUL returns with New Single “Spanish Lilt” Ahead of Forthcoming Album ‘Time Flies By’
The track marks a notable departure from their previous releases, showcasing a more haunting and introspective sound that underscores the band’s evolving artistry.
The single features contributions from two longtime collaborators. Dan Murphy has an extensive background, including work with The Scarlet Goodbye, Soul Asylum, and Golden Smog. He plays E-bow guitar, Wurlitzer, and provides harmony vocals on the track. Astrid Young, who has performed alongside Neil Young, adds backing vocals. Their involvement enriches the track’s atmospheric and emotionally resonant sound.
“Spanish Lilt” diverges from the more energetic tone of OVERHAUL’s earlier singles, presenting a laid-back yet thought-provoking piece. Its cinematic quality evokes the suspenseful tension of a Hitchcock film, while the lyrics possess storytelling intensity reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen — leaving listeners both transfixed and moved.
“Spanish Lilt” is the third single released ahead of OVERHAUL’s forthcoming album, Time Flies By, which is scheduled for release on November 7 through TLG Rock and Virgin Music. The band has also announced a supporting tour, with dates to be confirmed.
Time Flies By is poised to further establish OVERHAUL’s place in the rock and alternative scene, blending evocative songwriting with textured instrumentation. Fans and new listeners alike can look forward to a record that captures an emotional depth and stylistic expansiveness.
