Eli Paperboy Reed marks the 20th anniversary of his musical career with the re-release of his debut album, Sings Walkin’ And Talkin’ And Other Smash Hits!.
Originally recorded live to analog tape in mono at a basement studio in Allston, Massachusetts, the album was initially self-released in 2005 as a limited run of 300 CDs. These copies were primarily sold by Reed while performing as a busker in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The remastered deluxe edition, released as a double LP, includes the original album tracks on the first disc alongside four additional recordings from the December 2004 session. The second disc features a 2005 radio session recorded at WHRB, Harvard University. A single deluxe CD edition containing all tracks from the vinyl release is also available.
The collection reflects Reed’s early musical influences, blending elements of blues, R&B, and gospel rooted in his Mississippi and Chicago heritage. The release underscores Reed’s continued relevance and stature within the genre following two decades of live performance and recording.
To commemorate the anniversary, Reed will tour with a full band, performing selections from the debut album alongside material from his broader catalog.
