Alternative rock giants, Shinedown are shaking things up with the announcement of their upcoming Grand Ole Opry debut.
The four-piece rock outfit has been on a roll this year, rolling out number-one hits and radio smash singles such as “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Killing Fields.” On top of that, performances from the group’s Dance; Kid, Dance Tour have elevated the group to megastar status on the road.
This most recent development, however, will see how well the band fares outside its comfort zone. Pounding drums and bass, wailing guitars, and passionately intense vocals have been the bread and butter for Shinedown for essentially the band’s entire career. But a performance on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage may call for something a bit more nuanced.
It isn’t as though the group members are total strangers to a more downplayed atmosphere. The group saw early success with an acoustic rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s southern rock classic, “Simple Man.” What’s more, singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers have spent a great deal of time exploring acoustic musical territory as a duo in recent years.
Fittingly enough, Myers himself is keen to take on the challenge. In fact, the guitarist seems downright giddy to set foot on the stage that meant so much to himself, his family, and those around him coming up in the American south.
“Being a kid from Tennessee, most of my early memories were watching the Opry show every weekend with my grandmother and never considering standing on that legendary stage to even be an option,” the guitarist explains. “Now that it is, we couldn’t be happier to be a part of such a historical year of Opry history.”
Shinedown will debut on the iconic Grand Ole Opry stage next month. The performance is scheduled to take place on October 10, 2025, and tickets are currently available.
