Without further ado, let’s dig into recent work from the some of most exciting new and established creators alike with the March 7, 2025, FRESH WAX RECAP!

MAE POWELL – “ROPE YOU IN”

Singer-songwriter and musician, Mae Powell released her first single on the Karma Chief imprint of Colemine Records, “Rope You In” this week.

The indie-infused number presents a colorful soundscape enhanced by traditional instrumentation and production techniques, including an evocative 12-string guitar solo played through a Leslie speaker. “Rope You In” is now streaming everywhere

GOODNIGHT SUNRISE – “GET WORSE”

The fun-loving pop/rock duo from up north, Goodnight Sunrise recently released their latest single “Get Worse,” from the group’s upcoming full-length album, Get a Life, which is set to be released on Friday, May 2, 2025

“Get Worse” follows the single “Never Have Never Will,” which was released earlier this year. While “Get Worse” is a decidedly more joyful affair musically, the track retains much of the angst and frustration permeating the group’s previous single. Twin lead guitars and a singalong hook detailing the sheer hopelessness of it all are sure to endear “Get Worse” to a litany of listeners at this particular juncture in society.

OVERHAUL – “HAPPY LITTLE ROCKER”

Scottish rock trio OVERHAUL have cranked up the guitars for yet another high octane single in the form of “Happy Little Rocker,” released this week through Virgin Records/The Label Group.

Featuring all of the elements characteristic of the classic OVERHAUL sound, “Happy Little Rocker” brings plenty of 80s rock vibes and even features the playing of Dan Murphy of The Scarlet Goodbye.

MAYA DELILAH – “MAYA MAYA MAYA”

Maya Delilah recently released her latest single, “Maya Maya Maya.” The latest in a series of new tracks released for Blue Note Records, “Maya Maya Maya” is a reflective number which finds the songstress conducting a degree of self-analysis and seemingly ruminating on moments at which she zigged when perhaps she should have zagged.

The track serves as a stylistic pivot from Delilah’s precious single, the funk-heavy “Squeeze.” “Maya Maya Maya” will reportedly be the final single released in the lead-up to the artist’s upcoming album, The Long Way Round, which will exhibit Delilah’s broad range of influences and is expected to be issued through Blue Note later this year.

MATTESON GREGORY  – “DRIVE”

The newest release from Matteson (Mattie) Gregory, “Drive” offers listeners a heaping helping of pop-rock in the vein of early 2000s standouts such as Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne.

The singer-songwriter takes on the precarious subject matter of transitioning from a friendship situation to a romantic partnership. Listeners can connect with Mattie on Threads.

SPORTS TEAM – “MAYBE WHEN WE’RE 30”

UK alternative group, Sports Team delivered their latest single, “Maybe When We’re 30” to listeners last week. The mostly downbeat tune, which incorporates both new wave and Brit-pop elements, deals with the opening up one’s self to the inevitability of life’s changes and the transition from young adulthood to something a bit more stable.

The tune precedes the group’s upcoming album Boys These Days, which is currently available to pre-save and pre-order in various formats, including vinyl, CD, cassette, and various limited edition pressings.

EZRA GILMORE – “CHANGES”

Young singer-songwriter and America’s Got Talent Season 19 contestant, Ezra Gilmore has released a new single, “Changes” which is impacting streaming platforms everywhere.

A pop ballad back with sparse, slightly jazzy instrumentation, “Changes” offers an accessible glimpse at the stylings and approach of the up-and-coming artist.

PLANS TO SAND – “CAUGHT UP”

With “Caught Up,” Plans to Sand come through with a track which is almost as delightfully quirky as the band’s name. Primarily guitar-driven and anchored by a steady bass groove, “Caught Up” effectively captures the vibe of late-2000s pop-rock and emo acts musically.

The real calling card of the single, however, comes in the form of the exquisitely harmonized twin lead vocal tracks from the band’s pair of singers. Connect with the Philadelphia-based indie band on Threads.
